Online or In Person Counselling?

Both pathways start with an initial assessment (approximately 50 mins) where we review your current situation, what you are looking to get out of therapy,, and decide on a therapy plan moving forward.

I generally recommend working to a minimum of 6 sessions then review. All sessions are for 50 minutes (in-person, video, email, IM). If after this

Payment is required ahead of sessions to confirm the booking - please see Payment for more details

Online Therapy

Online counselling can work well for you if you:

  • Prefer to access therapy in your own home
  • Have trouble accessing a regular face-to-face session
  • Prefer to communicate through writing (email, IM)
  • Have an irregular work schedule or time commitments
  • Are unable to travel to appointments due to mobility, transport issues, time limits or physical illness
  • Are in a different location to the therapist that you want to work with

When Would Online Therapy Not Be Appropriate?

It is important that you feel safe in my work with you, and there are some instances where online therapy may not be the best support for you. These include:

  • Where you feel at risk from yourself or someone else
  • Where you have frequent thoughts of suicide
  • Where you are in crisis

Online or In-Person Counselling?

There are three options: video/voice only sessions, email sessions, Instant Messaging (IM) sessions.

For video and voice only sessions I use either the VSee or Zoom platforms which are secure encrypted video conferencing system. It is free to use and if you do not already have them I can send you the link to download it.

I use Protonmail for email counselling which is a secure encrypted system and again it is free to use. We will correspond weekly and agree on an appointment day each week where you send me an email outlining issues you wish to discuss. I will then read and respond with 48 hrs of receiving your email.

For IM sessions these are live and via Vsee or another agreed platform.

If you prefer to access sessions via other platforms (Skype, Facetime etc) please get in touch – these are less secure platforms and I am happy to discuss what this means and why I recommend using Vsee and Hushmail.

Cancellation policy: sessions cancelled with less than 48 hrs notice are subject to the full charge of the session.
